Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
sometimes, at least once a month, I have a severe cramp in my upper right abdomen area when I strain to have a bowel movement. I usually can breath through it and it will go away, but this has been going on for years and I just had one that also sent pain to my back. What could be causing this?

How Can severe Upper Abdominal Cramps Be Treated?
Hello, As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persists you can consult a gastroenterologist and plan for an ultrasound to rule out possible causes like renal stones. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
